Simple Coin Collecting Tips for Beginners
Posted by in Coins
Coin collecting is a really easy hobby to start. It’s as simple as saving that first coin and putting it away in some folder, case, or other storage or display. But as you collect, there are some things to keep in mind to always put you on the right path of obtaining that sort of collection everyone else will be jealous of.
- Check every coin that passes through your hands. You don’t want to find you are spending a coin with a rare date, mint defect, or one that’s made of pricey materials. Take the time to check them all and separate coins you think may be worth something from the ones you know you can just throw into your change jar.
- Search coin rolls. You might find some seriously interesting coins hidden away in the rolls that the bank gives you or ones you work with at your job. Take the time to take a good look. Don’t forget about the option of coin dealers and sellers. Some coins you just aren’t going to stumble across on the street, but if you know you really want a particular coin set or design, do regular searches on online auction sites and stores.
